I am interesting about learn the base of tropical ecosystems and their evolution, mostly because there is not enough information about Latin American countries. I have a lot of expectations in this course because it takes a biological perspective to investigate the unique characteristics of tropical ecosystems as well as the factors that lead to high biodiversity in these systems. also this class permit examine the interactions among species that live in the tropics as well as the role humans play in shaping and conserving these rich biological areas most of the topics that are teaching here are applied back in my country.
What is one of the main environmental issue your community experiences?
Jocoatique is located in the Northeast part of El Salvador in the mountain zone of the country; here only 70% of the population have potable water accesibility. The water scarcity is the main issue that people are facing with; most of the water sources that the community have do not have any guaranty to be safe for drink but people do not have other options and is been pushing to adapt with this condition.
What things have you learned thus far to help improve the environmental conditions of your community?
Watershed is one of the classes that has opened my eyes in terms of water; from this class I have been learned was is the real value that water has and how important is to preserve it as well. Forest measurement helped me of how the forest can be adecuade management in order to ontain the best thing from it. I summer time I lived the best experience of mi life that show me how the thing in the real world are; it was my internship from this experience I took the idea for my CAP project and also how to be related with people is important. I have been acumulating different liderships skills a long the my SEED experiences that I am ready to go back and apply all of them.
